Don’t Be Pressured into Using an Insurance Company’s DRP Shop
You may have already been — or are currently being — pressured by your insurance company to use one of their “preferred” or “network” shops, also known as Direct Repair Program (DRP) shops. These shops are often labeled as Select, Recommended, or In-Network — but the truth behind those names matters.
A DRP shop operates under a contract with one or more insurance companies. In exchange for a steady flow of work (your vehicle), these shops agree to follow insurance company repair guidelines and labor rates — not necessarily what’s best for your vehicle.
This often includes:
Using aftermarket or generic parts instead of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts.
Cutting labor or repair costs to stay in the insurer’s good graces.
Prioritizing the insurer’s bottom line over your safety and the long-term value of your vehicle.
So, where does that leave you?
Unfortunately, not first in line. In these arrangements, the insurance company’s interests come first — not yours.
This could mean:
Compromised vehicle safety features
Lower resale value
Repairs that don’t meet manufacturer standards
You are under no obligation to use a DRP shop. Insurance companies may push hard, but you have the legal right to choose the repair facility you trust.
Choose Safety. Choose Quality. Choose Independence.
At A & R Auto Body, we work for you — not the insurance company. “We always follow OEM manufacturer repair procedures to restore your vehicle to its pre-accident condition.
No shortcuts. No compromises.
Don’t let anyone bully you into a repair that puts your safety or vehicle at risk. If you need help navigating the insurance process or standing up for your rights, give us a call. We're here to support you.
